Digging Deeper into your Data

Google Analytics keeps track of so much data for your website. It has over 1,000 data points you can potentially look at. However, Google only shows you a subset of your data when you look at your data using the Google Analytics platform. Google determines which data shows you the best representation of the data. For a quick snapshot, this is all you need. But to really get the complete story, you need to dig.

Take for example, the Social Media traffic coming to your website. If you are trying to get more traffic from a social platform to your website, you want to see how the posts are doing. In Google Analytics, if you go to the Acquisition section and click on the All Traffic then Channels, you will see how many users came to your website from certain platforms. You can check out data such as Users, New Users, Sessions, Bounce Rate, Pages per Session and Average Session Duration just to name a few data points. This gives you a good idea of where your users are coming from.

Now suppose you are doing a campaign for an event that will be taking place in a specific geographic area. Wouldn’t it be nice to know if your target geographic audience was coming to your website from a specific social media channel?

Google captures this data. However, it is not easily found in the one size fits all google analytics pre determined platform. Imagine if you could get access to this data and have it displayed with your KPIs in YOUR custom dashboard?

Look no further. Our custom dashboards can get the detailed data needed by double clicking on a data overview, for example a pie chart shown above. In this image, double clicking on the pie chart gets you specific data for each social media platform.

This is just 1 of many examples of digging deeper into the data available to you to get a clear story of what your data is telling you.

The more you know the story of your data, the better decisions you can make.
