Does your business stand out or do you blend in with everyone else?
The answer to that question can be the difference between surviving in business or thriving. Look at the picture. What stands out? The red umbrella.
How are you different?
When there is a strong economy, people can purchase a service on many different factors. If they like something, they reach for the wallet and buy. However, in a not strong economy, when people reach for the wallet, there is a padlock on it. Now they have to take an extra step and unlock the wallet.
The time it takes to unlock the wallet is the difference maker.
People instantly ask themselves…Do I really need this service? Is this service going to take me to another level? Is this service valuable to me?
If there is not a strong YES to all of those questions, the wallet will not be opened.
If you offer value… If your service is different than others… If your service is a difference maker… then the lock will be quickly opened and the sale will happen.
How can you get the lock opened?
Here are 3 steps to unlock the wallet:
1. Lead with value
Why will people purchase your service? What pain is your service going to solve? How painful is the pain?
If you cannot answer these questions, how do expect people to purchase your service?
I like to ask myself, would I purchase this for myself? If the answer is not a definite yes then you have a problem.
Be confident in what you do.
In my case, I help business owners strengthen their business by creating systems that work together producing more profit. And I do it in a way that they stay in their zone of genius and I work in mine. Together we become an amazing team producing amazing results.
That is my value. I am in the boat with them plugging the holes and building the sails!
2. Show tangible results
What are the results of using your service?
When will people see results? 1 day? 1 week? 1 month? 1 Quarter? 1 Year? Whatever it is, tell them!
People want to know their Return On Investment. And back it up! Have a guarantee. Many businesses in my field do not like to guarantee results because it is based on so many factors. I have the confidence in knowing the work I do for my clients make a difference in their business. If after the first month of working with me, my client is not satisfied with the foundation we are building, I will refund their first month and we go our separate ways…No questions asked.
If you cannot put your money where your mouth is, why would others invest in you?
3. Be unique
How are you different from your competitors?
Do you have a certain skillset that you bring to the table that few have in your industry? Do you offer something or add something to your service that others do not.
Is it the way you do something?
In my case, I have a very unique background. I was a software developer and ran a software development company for over 20 years. I know data like the back of my hand. I always start with the end picture in mind and I work my way backwards. This way, everyone sees the goal line. Everything we do with the client has to do with moving towards that vision. There is so much data in a business but many times the correct data is not being looked at or even tracked. My team creates systems and strategies to make sure we get the data needed for our clients to make sound decisions for the business. All of this makes me the red umbrella in my industry.
Follow these 3 steps and you can be that red umbrella in a sea of black.
