A New Quarter… How Did Your Business Do?

How did you do 1st Quarter? Have you looked at your data yet and compared it to your goals?

Do not wait until the end of the year or mid-year. This is a great time to review, analyze and adjust if necessary. If you need to do any adjusting for 2Q21, it is better to have the plan adjust now so you can plan accordingly and take action.

Here are some quick tips for you to review 1Q21:

GOALS

Ask yourself the following questions for your overall goals:

  • Did you meet your 1Q21 Goals?
  • Did you have quantitative goals that you can compare goal versus actual?
  • Did you track your data correctly and on a timely basis?
  • What worked?
  • What didn’t work?
  • What adjustments do you need to make?

FINANCIALS

  • How did your financial KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) do?
  • How did your KPI’s compare to 1Q20?
  • How often did you get to look at your data during the 1st quarter?
  • Was your dashboard efficient enough to track your data and display it in a concise way?
  • What indicators did you exceed your goals?
  • What indicators did you not meet your goals?
  • What adjustments do you need to make?

PIPELINE

  • How were your leads, sales and current customer numbers?
  • Did you track the right KPI’s for your business?
  • Did your dashboard make it easier to track your numbers?
  • What indicators did you exceed your goals?
  • What indicators did you not meet your goals?
  • What adjustments do you need to make?

SYSTEMS

  • Were you able to track your most important systems in 1Q21?
  • Do the numbers make sense?
  • Did your dashboard make it easier to track your numbers?
  • What systems were a success based on the numbers?
  • What systems were not a success based on the numbers?
  • Did these trends match your pipeline trends?

Notice for each section above, there were very similar questions. The key is to track the data that is most important to the success of your business. Without the data, you cannot have an accurate map of where your business is going. Numbers do not lie. They tell an accurate story. It is your job as the owner to make sure the story that the data is telling you match the plan for your business for 2021.

Tracking the data is the dirty work. Make sure you have a system in place to easily track the data. Dashboards are great because the data can be collected in one place and easy for you to see. The data can come from very different platforms. The key is to have the KEY data all in one place from the above areas mentioned.
